It was during the first few days of the quarter, before we had to go to classes. Eric came to our room and invited us to join him in his burning of a Shinto shrine. Our first reaction (typical of all reactions to Eric comments) was, "Huh?"
Eric explained that he had a scale model of a Shinto shrine that he needed to get rid of. He felt that it should be burned, as that's the way that shrines were disposed of long ago. I grabbed my camera, figuring that this would be a great opportunity to get reference of a burning building. (Yes, I am a nerd.)
We joined Eric and Marlon in their room to make preparations. Marlon gave us some Kinder Surprise eggs, which we devoured with gusto. While we waited, we put together the plastic toys inside and tried to identify all the languages in the instruction packets.
Wendly's guy Jason dropped in to watch.
Marlon decided we needed a paper man to burn with the shrine.
Here's the final product.
The man was too big for the shrine, so Eric cut him down to size.
Eric placed the dwarfed man on the shrine steps, making
sure he stayed there with rubber cement. The man is
actually running INTO the shrine, which just shows that
he's stupid and deserves to burn.
